Get On Your Bikes And Ride
Radler, German for cyclist, was like most great inventions: Born of necessity. In the roaring 20s when biking and drinking was all the rage, an entrepreneurial innkeeper built a trail from the nearby town of Munich to his establishment. One fine day, he found himself with more bikers than beer, roughly 13,000 to be exact. To keep his customers happy and with beer in hand, he stretched out his supply by making a 50/50 mix with lemon soda.
Then, that smug son-of-a-bitch had the audacity to tell the cyclists it was to help them get home without falling off their bikes. Scraped knees are about as much fun as a game of 20 questions with a mime, so we are bringing you a radler of our own to get you and your bike home safe. Hibiscus Grapefruit Radler is our summer Brewhouse Rarities release that mixes the lemon-tarty flavor of the hibiscus flower with the citrus of the grapefruit to create lower ABV refreshing summer treat.
Alongside the Radler, we're unleashing our next Single Hop Imperial IPA: Nugget. Each Single Hop release has an identical grain bill while incorporating a single and different hop to allow you to discern the nuances of each hop variety. Nugget is known for being a bitter betty, and both that bitterness and the aroma will fight for center stage on this one. Bust out the sausages, or charcuterie if you want to get fancy about it, and bring on the Nugget.
Both beers will be available for the first time on Wednesday, June 22 at the kickoff of Flying Dog Wednesdays. Yes, you read that right; we are now open 5 days a week. It's not 8 days a week, but it's a step in the right direction. So when you walk in on Wednesday, step up to the bar and let us know your order by telling us "I'd Rather A Radler" or "Fugget I"ll Take Nugget." Once you've got your beer in hand, find the guy wearing a laptop around his neck and stop by and talk to Nate, the creator or our Radler, via Skype. (He'll be on vacation and at least 13 Radlers deep.)
Can't make it on Wednesday? Time to re-evaluate your life choices. Then, track down our newest releases via our Beer Finder.
