Criteria Revealed for Frederick's 72 Film Fest
Your inspiration? EACH OTHER.
Your challenge? COMMUNICATION.
Your criteria? FRAMES.
For entrants in this year's 72 Film Fest, sponsored by yours truly, it shouldn't be hard to find inspiration from their fellow film comrades. But there's a catch: Every team is given a beginning and ending frame for their movie, taken from stills from various 72 Film Fest entries throughout the festival's first five years. Exactly how these beginning and ending shots tie into a film is up to the entrants, but they must treat them like storyboards and do their best to recreate camera angles, settings, characters, and props.
But there's another catch: One team's ending frame is the next team's beginning frame -- a progression that continues through all of the entrants. Teams are encouraged (but not required) to communicate with each other and potentially collaborate on various aspects of each team's movie.
Understood? Now, GO! This criteria was revealed to entrants LAST NIGHT. Now, in a race against time, each entered team has ONLY 72-HOURS (hence the name) to create their movie.
Then, they have a work week to recover before their masterpieces are screened. All entries will be screened at the Weinberg Center for the Arts on Friday, October 7 starting at 6 pm.
Saturday, October 8 is the main event, where the judges' finalists and audience choice films will be screened at the Weinberg at 7:30 pm. A winner will be crowned that night and can then celebrate at our 72 Film Fest after party at Bentz Street Sports Bar. Starting at 10 pm, Bentz Street will have $1 off all Flying Dog and live music from Lucas and the Lovelys. Plus, the first 50 people will get a free pint!
