Brewhouse Rarities Mango Habanero IPA

mangohabaneroVIDEO

Cask-conditioned Raging Bitch Belgian-Style IPA with mango and habanero pepper is one of our favorite firkins. Building off of that is our first Brewhouse Rarities release of 2014: Mango Habanero IPA.

The trick to any sweet and spicy combination is balance, which was the goal from the beginning. The malt bill is intentionally light and the yeast a clean ale strain to showcase the fruit, heat, and tropical fruit-forward hops. Two pounds of habanero pepper were added to the boil and fresh mango (10 pounds per barrel) was added at the end of fermentation. It's unfiltered to retain as much flavor as possible and also mimic the look of fresh mango juice.

Here the breakdown:

  • 7% ABV
  • 70 IBU
  • Specialty malts: Light Caramel, Munich, Cara-Pils
  • Hops: Centennial, Amarillo, Simcoe, Citra

We're tapping it at the brewery next Tuesday, February 11. From 5 to 7 pm, we'll have the brewers on hand pouring samples and filling growlers.
